<P>When life throws you lemons; make lemonade.</P>
<P>When Congress throws you $15 billion... <BR><BR>...make green cars!</P>
<P>At least that's what we think. It's clearly a natural extension of the old
adage. <BR><BR>As advocates for the green economy, the auto industry bailout
debated by Congress this week is the first of many opportunities we have to
ensure that when our government re-invests in our business and industry, it
invests the right way.<BR><BR>And when you join us at Power Shift 2009, that's
exactly the kind of accountability we're going to ensure.</P>

<P>The U.S. economy is now "officially" in a recession (umm... duh?), and the
number of jobs lost in the last year is already approaching 2 million. Every job
counts right now. With 1 in 10 American jobs tied to the automotive
industry, there is no question about the urgency of this moment.<BR><BR>The
mandate to our newly elected officials is clear: rebuild the American economy.
Now. But the devil is in the details.<BR><BR>The question is not whether
the autmobile industry will suffer if congress does not act. They
will.</P>
<P>The question is not whether congress should take action to support those who
may lose jobs. They should.<BR><BR>The question is, will Congress put
Americans back to work with <I>Green</I> Jobs? Will they rebuild and retool
automotive factories to make the next generation of clean, efficient cars and
Repower America?<BR><BR>It couldn't have been said better than it was earlier
this week after President-elect Obama spoke with Nobel Laureate Al Gore:</P>
<P style="MARGIN-LEFT: 40px">"...we have the opportunity now to create jobs all
across this country, in all 50 states, to Repower America, to redesign how we
use energy, to think about how we are increasing efficiency, to make our economy
stronger, make us more safe, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and make us
competitive for decades to come, even as we're saving the planet."</P>
<P>We do indeed have a massive opportunity. Now we have to make it
happen. And nothing will beat the ability to turn our demands for a
Repowered America into reality than your joining with the 10,000 voices taking
charge in the halls of congress at Power Shift 2009. <BR><B><BR></B><A

do this. Continue the incredible record of moving this country forward
that we established through the Power Vote campaign and be part of reclaiming
our future. From the auto industry to the coal and oil industries, it's
time to Repower. </P>
<P>Join us. Meet with your representatives. Become educated on the issues.
Dance. Gain the skills you need in advocacy and organizing. Sing. Be inspired.
Be the solution. <BR><BR>Let's make lemonade AND green
...everything.<BR><BR><BR>Jake Brewer<BR><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: smaller">Power
