a passionate defense of his use of torture while hero music plays in

w:st="on">U.S.</st1:place></st1:country-region> security agent
tells Bauer that "it is wrong" that some people question
Bauer's use of abusive interrogation tactics. <o:p></o:p></span></font></li>

many of the more than 12 million people who tuned in for the opening
episodes are sophisticated enough to understand that this is just TV. But
the relentless promotion of torture by "24" has already had an
impact. Military educators report that "24" is one of the
biggest problems they have in their classrooms and junior soldiers – even
interrogators at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Guantanamo</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Bay</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> – have copied
techniques they have seen depicted on the program, according to
information gathered by journalists and Human Rights First.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

are concerned about the impact of "24" abroad as well. The
first six seasons were re-broadcast in dozens of countries (including a
number of countries in the Middle East) where the program has undoubtedly

w:st="on">U.S.</st1:place></st1:country-region> forces and the way they
