It's never fun to get sick or hurt, but when you're young, the
physical pain is all-too-often eclipsed by the pain of the bill. The
18-26 age group is the least likely to have good employer-based health
insurance, and the most likely to be without adequate
coverage.

All this can change with new health care
protections that go into effect today. But it's important that
people know what to do.

One of the reasons young people have it so tough is that insurers
throw them off their parents' plans when they hit certain milestones.
That means that when they turn 19 or graduate from college,
young people can suddenly find themselves

health reform law we helped to pass means that as of today,
young people can stay on their parents' plans until they're
26 or find good job-based coverage.

Many of the reforms
that go into effect this week will help young people, but others will
improve health insurance coverage for everybody -- like
increasing access to preventive care, which will keep
patients healthier and lower costs for all of us.

Our guide will
help young people and others understand these new benefits, and let them
know more about their options when it comes to health insurance. With
students heading back to school, there's no better time to get the word
