size=2 face=Arial>We are not voting for "A Party", Massoud. We are voting on
individuals. Kucinich, for instance, (and yes we are not voting on him) is not
pro war, against labor, and immigrants. He represents my principles. Since
voting for Adlai Stevenson, my first-time voting, I realize that rare is the
candidate who represents all of my principles; actually, there never will be
one, I guess, as Kucinich thought we had to go into Afghanistan with weapons
after 9/11 to get Osama Ben Laden instead of accepting Afghanistan's offer to
turn him over to an international court and trying him there. I also believe
that we do things in steps and to prevent as much harm as we can. Therefore, I
will vote for Bill White but for all of the other Green Party candidates. It is
too bad that a Green is not running for Culberson's seat!! No Dem is running
either. The judgeship positions are also a case in point, but it is hard to know
where their sympathies lie. In TX they tend to run on the ticket they think is
going to win, whether or not they are Democrats or Republicans. You need to know
about each one, but that is an impossibility. So --- it is impossible to be
pure, Massoud, except for you and Kris, perhaps. Also, a great many Democrats
voted NO to the Military Commissions Act of 2006 and against the war in Iraq,
including Sheila Jackson Lee, E. Bernice Johnson, and other Texans.

Also, please remember that even if you plan to vote
straight Dem, you can override individual choices. There are some good

In addition, note that there is NO Democrat running for

for the Green Party candidate (Edward Lindsay) in that race.

>I am writing to ask that you vote your conscience
tomorrow, if you haven't voted yet. There is a clear difference between the
positions of the Green Party and either corporate sponsored party. Deb Shafto's
speaking at the Gubernatorial debate in opposition to the death penalty,
in support of a progressive income tax on the top 20% of income earners in
the state to pay for essential social services, and her suggestion that
immigrants are worthy people, make a contribution to our society, and
should be treated with compassion, was the first time the people of Texas have
heard such a voice. If she was speaking your values, (see
<http://www.electdebshafto.com/>www.electdebshafto.com for the debate and
more) then I would ask you to vote for her and the other Greens on the ballot.
If we don't stand for our values in voting, we can't expect to see the
democratic process bring a world come into being that is consistent with those
values.
