There's a rule in life--you call people what they wish to be called. Like if a friend of yours decides to hyphenate his last name to include his new wife's, then that's what you call him, what he wishes to be called.

The Democratic Party is, as you correctly say, the Democratic Party, and its politicians are Democratic politicians, not 'Democrat' politicians. 'Democrat' is a noun, and it can't modify politician or anything else. When someone uses the word 'Democrat' as an adjective, not only is that person being impolite, and ungrammatical, but he or she is playing into the hands of sociopaths like Karl Rove who have purposely waged a war on the word 'Democratic' as an adjective.

And I forgot--Ron Paul supporters also apparently cheer big government when it builds a big border wall, and when it gives humongous sums of money to support those poor little oil companies--because that's what their buddy Congressman Paul supports.
Many of the "Democrat" politicians, even though Kucinich is not among them in this, have gone along with the Republicans' big government programs, such as surveillance schemes under the "Patriot" Act and wars. Ron Paul at least opposed those things.
