IDEAS INTO ACTION

No War, No Warming - Foreign Policy In Focus, a joint project of IPS and the
International Relations Center, has published
<http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?key=316497559&url_num=23&url
=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fpif.org%2Firaq%2F> several more articles in its "Iraq
Focus" to mark the beginning of the Iraq War's fifth year. Read the articles
in this series to keep tabs on Iraq policy and the movement's progress.

And heed John Cavanagh's invitation to "
=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stepitup2007.org%2F> step it up" on April 14 and call for
action to put the brakes on global warming.

I checked it out and there are 2 actions on April 14 in Houston. One is at
the Global Warming Cafe, the other in the Woodlands. There is one called
Step Up, Angleton, too. Check it out below. Lee Loe

We have a vital opportunity to link our opposition to the war with the
urgency to address climate chaos during a National Day of Action on April
14. I urge you to join in one of the over 1,200 local actions around the
country - urging our elected officials to pass legislation to slash
greenhouse gas emissions. Go to

=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stepitup2007.org%2F> the group's Web site to find the
action nearest you (and if you are in the Washington area,

=http%3A%2F%2Fevents.stepitup2007.org%2Fevents%2Fshow%2F1129> click here to
find out about the major action planned in front of the Capitol.). Many of
the actions will emphasize: "

=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nowarnowarming.org%2F> No War, No Warming" as part of the
effort to bridge the gap between the peace and environmental movements. And,
IPS fellow Daphne Wysham is just back from the heart of India's "coal belt."
I urge you to read below her reflections on how the energy transition we
advocate must be global.

Global Warming Cafe (good way to meet some new folks)

Event Description:

It adds up to one really good step toward stewardship of the Earth. Based on
the successful World Café format, the Global Warming Café is an active
workshop to empower EVERYONE to become part of the global warming solution.
Participants will engage in powerful and heartfelt conversations about
Global Warming, and then will be guided to take personal action to reduce
