Who are you talking about, Robert? Who exactly lacks sufficient imagination?
I didn’t read anything in Alyssa’s post that would suggest she doesn’t think
things will get worse. Please explain.

If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you lack
sufficient imagination.

The last thing on this earth I ever want to be is a "dupe" of big
corporations. That's exactly the position anyone is placing him or herself
in by saying there is no such thing as global warming or climate change.

I'm a little astonished that someone who "gets it" with respect to the giant
behemoths of war doesn't get it with respect to the fossil fuel companies.
They're all the same thing!

This IS a war, this is a war about science. Science is on the side I'm on,
and against the side that the giant corporations are taking. Sure, there are
always a few paid-for "experts" who will lie their brains out if they get
enough money for it, just as there were on the topic of, say, lead. Or
mercury. Or tobacco. Or any number of other deadly toxins. They whored
themselves out, indeed. But the overwhelming majority of scientists know
exactly what is going on. And what is going on is catastrophic.

The earth is a closed system. That's something you always have to remember.
What goes up does indeed come down, and circulate, forever and ever.

If you travel to other countries, the people there think Americans are
pretty stupid when it comes to fossil fuels and climate change. Just like
when the U.S. persisted on making claims about Iraq that were not true, and
were seen as outrageous by people in places like Italy and France, Germany
or Taiwan, for that matter, climate change is viewed very differently in
Bali. Or Thailand. Or Canada. Why? Because the big fossil-fuel companies
don't lobby in those nations. Or spend money on ads making claims that are
false. People in those countries can see with their own eyes what is
happening, apart from corporate lies.

It's time to move past fossil fuels, it's time to move into a different base
for our economy and our energy. In doing so, we would empower people and
industries that don't harm our planet or our people. How is that so bad?
Hmm. Seems it's only bad for the big fat corporate pigs who have long been
making money at our expense...

Assuming we don't blow ourselves up, or contaminate ourselves.....or GMO
ourselves ....I'm going to live here on Earth Kris. There may be a
catastrophe but I am not worried it will come from CO2 and frankly, I think
there are many more important things to worry about..

Yes, I had a child, now he is a man, but I do worry for him and all our
children, as I am sure you do as well Kris.
