Yeah, Gary, but by choosing the disappointing you are lending legitimacy to
a farce. Please think about that. We cannot possibly have real change unless
we are willing to look at the big picture, decide that we are not going to
contribute one more dime, one more minute of our time or one more vote to
Democrats or anybody else associated with any party that condones endless
war and continues to vote for continuation of endless war at the expense of
human beings and the planet. How can we ever hope to create the kind of
world we all want to live in if we continue supporting people who are
members of a party that only represents one group of people? Our whole
system needs to change, Gary. We can't just say well, this is the only
system we've got so we have to hold our nose and just vote for the candidate
that reeks less than the other one. I don't buy that. I will not turn my
back on my values and vote for somebody just because he or she self
identifies as a Democrat. This is wrong.

You have admitted in your "e" below that you are maintaining the FICTION
that the exercise of voting even matters. Why would you maintain a fiction,
Gary? It's past time to get out of fiction and get into non fiction. The
only way we are going to get a new socioeconomic system is if we start
building it ourselves. Pick something to work on. I want to focus on
community gardens and recycled housing. Food security and housing security
issues are huge. If we don't have food and shelter how can we put any effort
into anything else? Also, the issue of clean water is huge. Food, water,
shelter.......all these things come first, Gary.

There are so many problems facing all of us that sometimes they all seem
insurmountable. It just seems easier to go along to get along. I'm not doing
that anymore. Pick one thing. Work on it. Get passionate about it. Stop
contributing to a corrupt and contemptible system. We have to do something
because the current system is going to implode. When people are hurting
enough and hungry enough, they are going to get angry enough to rise up and
do something about all of this. Until that happens we have to do what we
can.

Kris

Kris and all:

To put it another way, these days you don't even get to be a SERIOUS
CONTENDER for the White House unless you've broken bread (thrown back a
few?) with the corporate heavyweights--the ones who don't ever want the
limelight.

I guess if my choice is the disappointing vs. the deplorable, I'll choose
the disappointing. In doing so, I'm maintaining the fiction that the
exercise even matters.
