Thanks to Betty robinson for pointing towards this hilarious Jon Stewart
take on the Iowa polls, pointing to a similar blackout of Ron Paul:

For anyone who wants to view a hilarious broadcast by Jon Stewart on this
same phenomenon - this time after the Iowa polls - where Ron Paul came in
second but was not mentioned AT ALL by any of the major broadcasters, they
were saying the "top tier" was Bachmann, Romney and Perry.

Libertarian Ron Paul becomes the 13th floor in a hotel.

A strange thing happened-or rather after-the GOP debate last night. With
eight candidates participating, the media coverage seems to be devoted
exclusively to Governors Perry and Romney, without any reference to another
other candidate, most incredibly, Michele Bachman. In reading the NY Times
coverage this morning, I was slightly incredulous that the entire article
was devoted to Perry and Romney. I began to think that the NY Times had
decided that Michele Bachmann was no longer "fit to print," remarkable
development after their incredible devotion to covering here all the way
through the Iowa caucuses. So I flipped on the Fox News lead (online)
about the debate, expecting them to continue their love affair with Bachmann
(as expressed by their constant coverage of her). But no, in a 3:51
broadcast commentary by two of their leading politicos about the debate,
they treated it as a two-person debate, beginning by introducing Perry and
Romney as the "frontrunners" (I think this is technically untrue; I thought
that Bachmann was ahead of Romney in the opinion polls) and then spending
the entire coverage without mentioning anyone else.

This is, I think, highly significant if this pattern (in two media outlets)
is generalized to the other key print and electronic corporate media. This
is not uncommon-that certain people or viewpoints fall from grace and simply
do not get media coverage, even when they reflect large bodies of public
opinion. Recent examples include anti-war positions (with withdrawal from
Afghanistan simply not fit to print in the major media) and Howard Dean
after his "gaff" during the 2004 presidential campaign. But you rarely see
such an abrupt freeze-out like this, especially when it comes to right wing
ideas and politicians.

If this pattern is maintained, we will see yet another test of the power of
the media. In this case, this sort of freeze out could (should?) simply
torpedo her campaign and turn her into an afterthought in a couple of weeks.

Let's see if my speculation is right
