Thanks to Judy, Don, Madeleine, Dave, and others for letting us know the sad news.
Charlie was a special person -- so dedicated to peace and social justice, and so focused on doing things to help those who didn't have big corporate or political power, not for personal gain or recognition but just because it was the right thing to do. He set a great example for us all to follow.
He was always so helpful and had such a good attitude, too.
His obituary is at:
http://www.millerfuneral.com/obits/obituaries.php/obitID/882002 and http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/houstonchronicle/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=153877201
Map to the funeral services (Sunday at 1 PM):

He was also articulate and had a number of articles published in the Houston Chronicle.
You can read some of his letters that have been published in the Chronicle at http://chron.com/?controllerName=search&action=search&channel=home&search=1&firstRequest=1&query=Charles+Mauch
(Scroll down though the letters published on each date to find his.)
Losing Charlie is another big loss to us in the Houston area. I will certainly miss him. Thank you, Charlie, for all the great things you did for us all, for our community, for our country and our world.
Bill

>In 2000, Charles Mauch, running for Texas Railroad Commissioner, was one of the three Green Party candidates for state-wide office who, along with Gary Dugger and the late Ben Levy, retained ballot access till 2002 for the party by obtaining over five percent of the vote in their respective races. In recent years Charlie, a retired petroleum engineer, continued active with environmental, social justice, peace, and especially democracy issues as he worked for campaign finance reform.
