[HCDP Issues Forum] The Environment

Jun 17 2006 - 9:00am
Jun 17 2006 - 1:00pm

Event Description:

This Figthing Back Workshop is the fourth in a series of issue forums planned for the election year. Learn effective ways to frame and discuss environmental issues.

Introduction

Much of the harsh partisan bickering that exists between Republicans and Democrats stems from a basic misunderstanding of the core values of each.  Democrats realize that many Republicans have core values similar to Democrats.

By incorporating our core values into our discussion of issues, we demonstrate similarities of values between all people of good will.  Democrats in this workshop are providing a “framing process” to bridge the knee-jerk reactions that are blocking real solutions to the city and country’s major social issues. Such discussion is expected to facilitate a meaningful dialog so that real solutions can be negotiated.  Much of this philosophy is based upon the work of author, George Lakoff and the Rockridge Institute of Berkley, CA
