Event Description:

Democratic Gubernatorial Nominee Will Hold Press Conference at Minute Maid Park to Unveil Environmental Policy

Democratic gubernatorial nominee and former U.S. Congressman Chris Bell will be in Houston on Tuesday, July 18, for a stop on his week-long statewide press tour. Bell will hold a 2:00 pm press conference at Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston to announce his campaign's environmental platform.

Mr. Bell will discuss his goals for reforming the state's environmental policies to protect the health of all Texans.  His plans include a state constitutional amendment to protect hunting and fishing rights, ending the fast-tracking of permits for coal-fired power plants, and calling for 10% of the state's electricity to come from Texas-based, non-polluting renewable energy sources.

Tuesday's visit to Houston will be part of press tour this week that will also include stops in Port Arthur, San Antonio, Dallas, Mission, and Corpus Christi. Mr. Bell will give a prepared statement, after which he will be available to take questions from the press.
