Aug 7 2006 - 5:00pm

Event Description:

Government Officials and Local Imams Together in a Dialogue

The Imam Roundtable is an inaugural attempt to bring together Muslim religious leaders [imams] with federal and local government officials in order to facilitate a dialogue.  Imams are in a special position in the community of devout Muslims given their significant role not only in religious functions but also many times as the source for guidance on non-religious issues.  By creating an environment for a productive, honest and candid discussion, the various stakeholders at the Roundtable will better understand each other.  This understanding is an essential step to further the development of relationships which will aid both parties in addressing the issues impacting the Muslim-American community.
