Film Series: Democracy for Houston and PAA joined forces for Forth Friday Flicks; 6:30 p.m. confab/potluck and 7:30 p.m. screening; First film screening Friday, Aug. 25 at Harris County Democratic Party Headquarters; potluck, BYOB, $2 donation but no one turned away; Time is Now for Truth and Reconciliation;; potluck; Art to coordinate ice (Art), cups (Brenda), forks, napkins, plates; Ivan and Bill to bring amplifiers; subsequent movies based on attendees votes; list will be posted on website; email committee members movie suggestions; Call HCDP about keeping air conditioning going on Friday; Victoria on steering committee of DFH;
Teach-In on Impeachment Committee Report: Ann Wright will be keynote speaker at Resurrection Church Labor Day, Sept. 5; need to work out the program; ordered Impeachment kit with books, DVD “How to Impeach” with 3 minute trailer; need help planning the agenda; Ron Paul to be invited; try to get kids/students involved; Goals: get folk thinking about impeachment; what’s are grounds for impeachment; about the procedures for impeachment and what they can do personally; use freeway blogging to advertise; next meeting immediately following this meeting to determine time/date/place of next meeting; signup at paa-tx.org “mailing list” for impeachment forum; link to Charlie’s impeachment video; propose Charlie make CDs of flash video to sell; discussion about holding event at Resurrection or 1st UU

Discussion about Palestinian/Lebanon/Israel: Bob Carter’s survey completed; discussion about why topic so fraught; role of media, bible, friendships/family, holocaust, ignorance of history, facts, verbiage (e.g. Zionist, anti-Semitics); discussion about media sources English al-jazeera, English version of al Haaretz Israeli newspaper, www.DahrJamail.com; discussion about Israel functioning as US proxy war in mideast; rootlessness of white culture engendering fear/anger, war mongering; imperative of separating government’s actions from its people;
