Ombudsman legislation: Latino Voter’s League Tom Garcia wants to enlist PAA member participation in educating and enlisting support for legislation to create an independent ombudsman civilian run agency with subpoena power that can investigate and ideally prosecute police or government misdeeds -  want bill to ensure accountability by addressing the inherent weaknesses of civilian review boards which are peopled with folk from the agencies being investigated; send Tom your email address if interested in receiving updates; proposal to gather more info and assist however possible

 

Impeachment Petition: Push for signatures on petitions completed by 1-25

 

Discussion on PAA goals & objectives 2007 City Council campaigns; election reform; verifiable voting reform; public campaign financing; Israel out of Palestine; stopping surveillance, ending drug war; education of self and public on issues and history; more NV direct actions; visit with congress folk and become a presence that they can’t disregard; affinity group discussion effective communication and keeping affinity groups small enough that infiltration minimized and if it occurs, damage minimized.

 

Freeway Blogging: Discussion about freeway blogging with signage about impeachment; Iraq; and Israel out of Palestine; both Tuesday and Friday afternoons at Dunlavy, Woodway & Mandel bridges at Hwy 59

 

Alternative meeting site: Aleithia proposes alternative site at Hillcroft/Bissonet Balind Community Park free parking, 

 

Defenders of Habeas Corpus: Organized by Margaret Davis Jan. 20 in Alvin, TX Honoring Congressman Ron Paul who voted against the Military Commissions Act; and beloved Lee Loe for her Herculean efforts for peace;
