Sign Making Party - Make Signs for Peace

Mar 17 2007 - 10:00am
Mar 17 2007 - 6:00pm

Event Description:

YOU and your friends are invited to a SIGN MAKING PARTY for PEACE

Why: Make giant signs and banners to use on Mar. 20 for the coordinated freeway blogging and candlelight vigil, on freeway overpasses for the 4th anniversary of the Iraq invasion. Make your own sign stressing the need for peace and for bringing the troops home now. And of course, you can use your sign later, or donate it to someone else who will, as the freeway blogging is a continuing activity as long as US troops are in Iraq.

When:
Saturday, March 17, 10 AM - 6 PM or until we get tired
We'll be making signs even if it rains Saturday -- we have a covered area.

Bring:
* Clothes and shoes you can get paint on
* (optional) big pieces of cardboard from your favorite major appliance store or an old white or light colored sheet, or a black giant waterproof marker (One of any of these is fine. Come even if you don't have cardboard or sheets or a marker and we'll put you to work with what we already have.
* A smile and your favorite stories to tell about freeway blogging (if you've done it before)
* Something to eat or drink to share for a pot luck lunch, or money for pizza or Chinese food to be delivered.

See http://www.paa-tx.org/node/2540 for details of the Mar. 20 freeway blogging/candlelight vigil event, which includes participants on six different bridges over the Southwest Freeway in Houston:
* Progressive Action Alliance
* Harris Co. Green Party
* KPFT 90.1 Radio for Peace
* World Can't Wait
* Veterans for Peace
* Military Families Speak Out
* Houston Peace and Justice Center
* Unitarians, Live Oak Friends, other TBD Interfaith groups

If you want to make your own signs, tips are at the PAA freeway blogging web page at http://www.paa-tx.org/freeway_blogging

Feel free to forward this to anyone else who may want to join us on Saturday, and of course tell everyone about the big coordinated event on the bridges over the SW Freeway in Houston next Tuesday evening, Mar. 20. Details on it are at http://www.paa-tx.org/node/2540
