Houstonians Join Nationwide Call for Impeachment

WHAT:           Concerned Houstonians will gather at Houston City Hall to present a resolution to City Council calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard B. Cheney.

WHO:          This citizen initiative is endorsed by the Progressive Action Alliance, the Harris County Green Party and other area organizations.

WHEN:           2 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2007

WHERE:        Houston City Council, 900 Bagby St.

BACKGROUND: Concerned Houstonians petition Houston City Council, asking our city to join dozens of cities and towns across the nation which have officially called for investigation, impeachment, trial, and removal from office (and disqualification to hold any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States) of President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard B. Cheney. The suggested resolution presented to Houston City Council focuses on these officials misleading the U.S. Congress and the American people, and allies of the United States through the suppression and manipulation of intelligence leading up to the invasion and occupation of Iraq as well as on illegal domestic spying, illegal torture, and illegal detention. These issues were chosen from among a multitude of impeachable crimes and misdemeanors committed by the Bush Administration. The full text of the proposed resolution follows this release.

COST:            Free and open to the public.
