Fwd: RC (reevaluation counseling) Introduction

Submitted by PAAMember on January 17, 2006 - 4:01pm. ::

Please see the message from our fellow progressive activist George
Reiter, about an introduction to reevaluation counseling (RC), below.
I've known George for over 20 years and have been familiar with RC
for almost that long. I recommend learning about RC to anyone on
this list, and know that George is an excellent person to introduce
you to it.

Contact George at . I'll be glad to give you my
opinions about George and about RC (both positive), too, if you wish.

>Bill,
>Would you forward this to the PAA list. I am hoping to improve the
>dynamics in the progressive community this way. I'd also
>particularly want to invite you and Cheryl to participate. Your
>knowledge of RC and wisdom generally would be very useful support in

>You are invited to an introductory discussion of Re-evaluation Counseling
>
>Reevaluation counseling is a tool for using the listening of others
>and the spontaneous processes of emotional release( laughing,
>crying, trembling, raging, etc) to heal the effects of the
>unresolved traumas in our past. These traumas leave us with rigid
>ways of dealing with and seeing the world that do not serve us well
>in the present. These patterns of behavior and filters on our
>perceptions cause us to react to the world in many situations,
>rather than creating it as we would like to. The effect of relieving
>us of these patterns is to release our inherent loving, cooperative
>and joyful nature, increasing our ability to form close
>relationships and improving our effectiveness in whatever we choose
>to do.
>
>The lecture is free and will be followed by a class or series of
>workshops to teach the
>ideas and tools of Re-evaluation Counseling for those who are
>interested. The class is intended for people who are political
>activists in some sphere. It requires no commitment
>to any particular point of view, only a desire to become more
>effective in what you want to accomplish and enjoy your work more in
>the doing of it. You are invited to share this invitation with
>anyone you would like to have participate with you.
>
>The introductory lecture will be held on Thursday, Feb 2 at the
>Institute for Cultural Studies, 5555 Morningside, suite 204, at 7pm.
>The Institute is on the second floor.
