Submitted by PAAMember on November 7, 2005 - 5:01pm. ::

I hope many of you are planning to attend the annual awards dinner,
this Friday evening, for the Houston Peace and Justice Center. It's
at the University of Houston Hilton Hotel.

I know a number of you have been talking about going. If you haven't
already made reservations, be sure to contact Herb Rothschild at
or 713/861-2494 as soon as possible (by
Tuesday evening or earlier).

If you'd like to join me and others at a PAA table there, please let
me know if you are planning to come, whether you already made your
reservations or not. I need to tell the organizers in advance how
many to expect.

There's a reception starting at 6 pm, with the dinner starting at 7
pm. See Herb Rothschild's note below about Aldolfo Perez Esquivel,
1980 winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, who will speak at the
reception. Herb's note also has other information about the awards
dinner.

This year, HPJC be honoring Bob Jensen, State Representative Garnet
Coleman, Sissy Farenthold, and immigration rights activist Maria
Jimenez.

National Peacemaker awardee and keynote speaker will be Bob Jensen,
Professor of Journalism at UT-Austin. Through his teaching, guest
lectures, editorial writing, and books, Jensen has become a prominent
critical analyst of American political policy and social practice.

The dinner is the main fundraiser for HPJC. Tickets are $50 each,
with a limited number of subsized tickets available for low income
attendees.
