House GOP leaders agreed last night to strip plans to permit oil
drilling in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and in the
offshore continental shelf from their massive $54 billion budget-
cutting measure, probably securing the votes to pass the measure today.
Not to disagree with you Randy but where did you get the info on Japan's in contract deals to buy all the oil coming out of ANWR? Not saying I don't believe it I'm just wondering how this escaped the debate over drilling there to begin with.

I've been wondering if there's another shoe to drop.
Considering our Congress's track record, I find it hard to believe that they are actually buckling
under pressure from environmental activists (aka: "liberal special interest groups").
I would find it easier to believe a back-story that points in another direction.
For example: I have seen other stories that suggest that Japan already has contracts in place to
buy every barrel of oil that might come out of ANWR. Considering how the administration has been
so sycophantic toward China, I wonder if that is relevant. i.e. China says "Please, not to sell
oil to Japan. Thank you very much."
Just fondling a conspiracy theory.
Randy
personally, I believe this is a direct result (my humble opinion
only!) of the hearings that are taking place on capitol hill about
the absolutely OBSCENE profits that these oil companies are raking in
- Boxer is at the head of the line on this issue. Charges of price
gouging, etc... are being discussed and the oil execs are on the hot
seat.
With the imminent (again IMHO) take back of at least one house of
Congress if not both (I can dream can't I?) during next year's
elections, I believe these folks are seeing the writing on the wall.
Retribution could be nasty.
read about it here.

don't get me wrong, I also agree with your assessment - they'll just
try to find "another way in" - keep us posted! as per usual Randy -
your stuff is great.

Japan has recently embarked on efforts to increase solar and other sustainable energy sources. Lee Loe
